The owner of the puppy mill relinquished custody of all the dogs today!!!!! They will all be transferred to other humane organizations to be readied for adoption. It's late and we're still working. We've got a long night ahead getting 26 Yorkies out tonight and 150 ready to go tomorrow morning, so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...
Woo Hoo!!! What great news for these dogs! Janell, you have been WONDERFUL to work with as have all of the EARS volunteers and the HSUS staff. I truly enjoyed working with everyone and it was very clear that the dogs were the #1 priority for all involved.

I purchased a pomeranian puppy from this very same "breeder" last May having no idea this was being investigated as a puppy mill.
ReplyDeleteOur beautiful baby, Sophie, was put down one week later with parvo. We were devastated and the vet said it was possible we had purchased from a puppy mill. I didn't even know what that was at the time.
I didn't even try to get my money back because Ms. Thornton INSISTED she would only guarantee the health for 48 hours (that should have been a red flag!) and I wasn't able to get her to the vet in that time. I know now that she was ONLY interested in the money.
Not only were we out alot of money (around $400 for the purchase and over $200 for the vet bills) but more importantly we lost a precious little angel. My family and I had been saving and preparing our home for a long time.
I have been following this story very closely and I sure wish I had know then what I know now. How cruel for her to do this! I am going to try and get information on adopting one of these puppies. Seeing the raid video just broke my heart!

This is such great news. I remember in WV that I was just furious that nothing was going to happen to the 1000 do mill operator at least from the Humane Society standpoint. That was until Marcelle said to me. "Little one, WE HAVE THE DOGS AND THEIR SUFFERING IS OVER". That was the point when everything finally sunk in to my head. Yes we need to change the laws because that is the only thing that will put teeth marks into the backsides of the idiots that operate these mills. However, the immediate victory comes when the dogs are relinquished to the local authorities and EARS and the other Rescue groups can change the lives of these dogs forever. ReplyDeleteI purchased my two yorkies from this horrid breeder. Oliver (2 years ago ) and Brooklyn (1 year ago) I had no idea that she was running a puppy mill. I guess i am lucky that they are healthy, but i cant help wondering about their momma...they have the same momma, i wish i could find her and make up to her for all the wrong doing. I wonder if she was one of the ones taken out of there...if she was still there. I am haunted by this and it has broken my heart to find out how she had to suffer to give me my two babies...i am heartsick! I hope that God will forgive those people that had the lives of all of those wonderful animals in their hands...Thank you all for all the wonderful work that you have done to help these loving creatures...
ReplyDeleteYou might notice the two poodles posted above are the same guys posted on February 7th's blog. You can see the difference just a few days made. Three days ago they were sitting quietly in their cage and turning their heads to avoid looking at us. Now they are happy to see people and jumping up at the front of their cage waiting for some attention. These dog's spirits amaze me!
